PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder in which reliability of ink supply can be enhanced. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder comprises a carriage 1 for carrying a head having an ink supply needle 23 communicating with a recording head 22, and an ink tank 7 mounted removably on the carriage 1 and supplying ink to the recording head 22 through an ink supply passage 23A. A needle cap 24 for opening/closing an ink supply opening 23a by mounting/demounting the ink tank 7 is disposed reciprocally on the axis of the ink supply needle 23. The needle cap 24 comprises an elastically deformable columnar body for opening the ink supply opening 23a through going motion at the time of mounting the ink tank 7 and closing the ink supply opening 23a through returning motion at the time of demounting the ink tank 7. The needle cap 24 is normally urged by a compression coil spring 25 in the direction for closing the ink supply opening 23a. |
