PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for finishing a square timber in which the respective surfaces of the timber are each a straight planar surface and an angle formed between the respective surfaces of the timber becomes an accurate right angle by always linearly transferring the timber so as not to be affected by its unevenness and cutting to finish the respective surfaces. SOLUTION: The method for finishing the square timber accurately finishes the timber in which the unevenness occurs so as to eliminate the unevenness. The method further comprises the steps of grasping the timber 1 having the unevenness by a grasping member 5 of a timber sending unit 7, linearly transferring the member 5, forming a linear cutout 3 for engaging one side edge of the finishing surface with a timber sending ruler 2 while finishing the timber 1 at one surface in a linear flat surface by a working tool 4 in a necessary minimum limit by a working tool 12, transferring the timber 1 to a timber sending table 13 so as to contact the timber 1 with the table surface at the finished surface and to engage the cutout 3 with the ruler 2 when finishing of one surface and the formation of the cutout 3 are ended, linearly transferring the timber 1 so as not to be affected by the unevenness by the engagement of the rubber 2 with the cutout 3, cutting the residual three surfaces by working tools 15, 16 perpendicularly crossed with the table 13 and a parallel working tool 17 so as to completely remove the unevenness. Thus, an accurate square product is obtained.
