PROTEIN FROM COELOMIC FLUID OF INDIAN EARTHWORM CAUSING IMMOTILITY OF SPERM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earthworm-derived sperm immotility protein and a contraceptive using this. SOLUTION: The new sperm immotility protein useful as a contraceptive is isolated from the coelomic fluid of an earthworm (Pheretima posthuma) belonging to the phylum Annelida. A process for isolating an active factor from the coelomic fluid(CF) of a mature earthworm (Pheretima posthuma) belonging to the phylum Annelida, and a process for testing sperm immotility are also provided. The sperm immotility protein has a strong effect that causes immotility of sperms and is completely nontoxic.
