PROCESS FOR PREPARATION OF LOW-PHOSPHORUS RICE BRAN OIL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for treating crude rice bran oil to remove the phosphoglycolipids which is the residual phosphorus in the degummed rice bran oil. SOLUTION: The process for preparing the low-phosphorus rice bran oil (<10 ppm) comprises (a) treating the crude rice bran oil at ambient temperature with <5% boiling water and separating the sludge formed to obtain a clarified oil and (b) treating the clarified oil thus obtained with 0.5-10% reagent selected from the group consisting of mono-, di- or triethanol-amines to obtain the low phosphorus oil.
