METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR STERILIZING CONTAINER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for sterilizing a container wherein electron beams can be uniformly irradiated. SOLUTION: An electron beam 5 traveling straight from an electron beam irradiator 2 toward the container 3 is deflected by electromagnetic lenses 11a to 11c and applied to a shade of the container 3, whereby a ratio of an irradiation amount on a part where the electron beam 5 is directly irradiated and an irradiation amount of the beam 5 reaching the shade can be decreased. Since the minimum dose is thus increased, reliability in sterilization is improved, while since the maximum dose can be reduced, an adverse influence on a material of the container 3 can be reduced.
