PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting method that can perform machining such as deep recessing and fine machining in a desired position. SOLUTION: A cutting tool with a cutting part of elongated cylinder shape, in which the ratio L/D of effective length L to a diameter D is 10 or more, provided with a cutting edge at a tip part and a side face, is rotated at a high rotating speed of 50,000 or more per minute to cut a metallic material with the cutting edge.
