PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a casing film for food having moderate permeability to steam, moderately impermeable to oxygen, enabling smoking treatment and capable of keeping the smoked scent, smoked color and smoked taste, and provide a casing film for food applicable not only to a smoked food but also to a food free from smoking treatment such as dry sausage and dry ham. SOLUTION: The casing film for food is composed of a mixture of at least polyvinyl pyrrolidone and a thermoplastic resin. The thermoplastic resin is preferably polyamide resin. The weight ratio of the polyamide resin to the polyvinyl pyrrolidone is preferably 50-99:50-1, especially 80-99:20-1.
