PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dragging mechanism for preventing a fishline from being vigorously drawn out of a spool by quickly increasing dragging force previously set by a drag knob on catching a large fish. SOLUTION: This dragging mechanism works as follows: a drag knob 8 mounted on the front edge face side of a reel body 1 is put to turning operation to forwardly screw a screw hole 6a provided at the central part of the drag knob 8 along the front end screw part 2b of a spool shaft 2 to effect pressing a friction plate 9 and thereby generating a specified dragging force, wherein the spool shaft 2 is projected from the rear end of the reel body 1, the projected part is formed to an angular shaft part 2a, which, in turn, is inserted into the angular hole 6b of a lever member 6 turnably mounted on the rear end face side of the reel body 1 and seized, by putting the lever member 6 to turning operation at the operator's side, the spool shaft 2 is integrally turned to effect increase in the dragging force by the drag knob 8.
