PURPOSE: A method and a device for calculating printing cost, a printer, a printing system, a system for calculating printing cost, and a system for publicizing printing matter are provided to efficiently calculate accurate printing costs when creating printed matter using a printer and a printing system. CONSTITUTION: The method for calculating the printing costs when creating printed matter using colorants based on a digital image(6) expressed as disperse numerical data includes a colorant consumption calculating process for calculating the amount by which the colorants are consumed to create the printed matter based on the digital image(6), and a printing cost calculating process for calculating the printing costs from the amount of consumption of the colorants calculated in the colorant consumption calculating process.
