PURPOSE: A color forming method by laser marking is provided in which a letter or figure marked on the surface of a workpiece displays a unique tone of color contrasting with the workpiece so as to clearly distinguish a mark from the workpiece and coat various colors on a workpiece and the mark formed on the workpiece. CONSTITUTION: The color forming method by electro deposition coating comprises a coating film treating step of covering a coating film to a certain thickness on the surface of a manufacturing completed metallic workpiece; marking step of forming a desired shaped mark on the workpiece by scanning laser beam on the surface of the coating film treated workpiece; and electro deposition coating step of electro deposition coating dye having an arbitrary color on a part which is etched to a certain depth by scanning laser beam.
