PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent exhaust emission immediately after the start of an internal combustion engine from being deteriorated by supplying heat to the internal combustion engine for long period even when the internal combustion engine is stopped. SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine comprises a circulating system C for circulating heat medium, a heat supply means 23 for supplying heat to the internal combustion engine 1 through the heat medium, and a re-supply effect judgment means 22 for judging the effect of supply of heat based on the temperature of the heat medium inside the heat storage device 10 and the internal combustion engine 1. The re-supply effect judgment means 22 repeatedly judges the effect of heat supply. When the means judges to be effective, heat is supplied.
