PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively obtain both an additive which can change characteristics of polymer material with a small amount of the additive added, does not cause reduction in physical properties of the polymer material, discoloration, etc., when added to the polymer material, and a composite material containing the additive. SOLUTION: A polymer material 41 to be a base substance is mixed and kneaded with ammonium nitrate powder (nonmetallic nitric acid compound) 10 and aluminum hydroxide (aqueous compound powder) 39 as the additive to give a compound 531. The polymer composite material gives a molding by a fixed molding method exhibiting high flame retardance, not causing discoloring, etc., and having polymer characteristics not greatly different from those before addition of the additive can be obtained.
