PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a ladder cord where respective pitches of a horizontal cord with respect to a front and rear vertical cord are made different from each other. SOLUTION: The ladder cord 1, where the horizontal cord 3 is laid with a prescribed pitch between the two vertical cords 2 and 2 arranged in parallel, is paid out continuously, and fed into a quadrangular heating furnace 9 with a built-in heating source 11. In the heating furnace 9, there is arranged a working member 5 where many tooth profiles 8, having the right and left lengths different from each other are protruded from a surface so as to be disposed at prescribed internals. The ladder cord 1 is heated for conveyance, while an enclosed window 6 formed of the horizontal cord 3 the ladder cord 1 is brought into close contact with an fitted into the protruded tooth profile 8 of the working member 5. Inside the heating furnace 9, the shape of the enclosed window 6 of the ladder cord 1 is made equal to that of the tooth profile 8, in order to be made invariable. The ladder cord 1 is fed out of the heating furnace 9, while being peeled from the tooth profiles 8, and conveyed while being cooled, so as to be housed in a storage member 18.
