The adaptor, comprising a housing (1) with sockets (3) for plugs (4), has a plate (5) projecting from its base (2) to allow it to be held down with the foot against a supporting surface while plugs are being removed. The plate can be fixed to the base or hinged and springloaded to make it at least partially retractable, and can have notches (50) for a wound cable.
