PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a punching device capable of accurately punching a recording material without tearing and jamming the recording material. SOLUTION: Projections 82, 83 formed on a cam face 76 of a stopper cam 65 are engaged on a cam supporting projection 73 of a stopper 61 within a range from the cut-off of a conveying passage 60 by a claw 78 of the stopper 61 to just before projecting a punch to the conveying passage 60 to produce the resistance force for canceling the inertia moment acting on a cam shaft 64, which prevents the overrun of the cam shaft 64. Whereby the stopper cam 54 fixed to the cam shaft 64 and a cam 66 for the punch can accurately operate the stopper 61 and the punch.
