PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase electric power efficiency by shortening the electrification line between an optical modulator and a driver IC without lowering optical coupling efficiency. SOLUTION: The driver IC 22 which has an extension optical waveguide 24 arranged on one main surface and the optical modulator 14 which has an optical waveguide ridge 16 are arranged on a mount 12 so that the extension optical waveguide 24 and the optical waveguide ridge have their optical axes aligned with each other and their end surfaces are put closely opposite each other. Lenses 32a and 32b are provided nearby the incidence-side end surface of the optical modulator 14 and the projection-side end surface of the extension optical waveguide 24.
