The invention relates to a steam pressure cooking pot, comprising a pot (12) with a pouring edge (10), bent horizontally outwards, a lid (3), for closing the above pot, which may be placed in a centralised manner thereupon, an elastic rubber sealing element (6), arranged between pot and cover, retained in a circumferential groove in the lid and whose sealing edge (4) engages with the inner wall of the pot and a locking device (13) which encloses the lid and pouring edge when the steam pressure cooking pot is closed and releases the pouring edge when the steam pressure cooking pot is opened. According to the invention, a seal between the steam pressure cooking pot (12) and the lid (3) thereof, which is impervious to steam at both low and high pressures and is easily assembled and easily maintained can be achieved, whereby the pot has a V-shaped bead (11) facing inwards, which, on the upper edge thereof, forms a tapered surface (18) engaging with the sealing edge (4) of the sealing element (6) on installing the lid. The sealing element is essentially U-shaped and both shoulders thereof, which form sealing edges (4, 5) when the lid is installed, are arranged essentially parallel to the wall of the pot.
