An embossable sheet-type work material (14) has a top layer of sheet material (28), an intermediate layer of sheet material (34), and a carrier layer of sheet material (42), with a first layer of adhesive material (40) bonding the top and intermediate layers of sheet material together, and a second layer of adhesive material (48) bonding the intermediate and carrier layers of sheet material together. Any, all, or a combination of the top, intermediate, or carrier layers of sheet material may have shape retaining deformability characteristics to aid in holding an embossed design in the work material. The top layer may be of plastics and the intermediate layer of cardboard. A laminate having an embossed top layer is formed by removing the carrier layer (42) and adhesive layer (48). |
