[Also in Division D1] The invention comprises compounds of the formula where m, n and q are positive integers, m is 4 to 9, n is at most 2 and q is at most 4. The compound may be prepared by reacting compounds of the formulµ and where p is 1-8, with lithium aluminium halide in an anhydrous medium in the presence of hydrogen halide. The compounds in which q is 2-4 may be converted to compounds of the formula where r is 2-4, by reaction with chlorine and treatment of the chlorinated product with a base. |
