Process for cooling metallic longitudinal products, especially sheet steel pile (S, S1) comprises cooling the products initially by a cooling difference ( DELTA T1- DELTA T5) over a cooling period (K1-K5) by wetting with a cooling fluid; and producing a temperature compensation in the product over a compensation interval (E1-E4) without affecting a coolant. Cooling and temperature compensation are repeated until the theoretical final temperature (ET) is reached in the product. An Independent claim is also included for a device for cooling metallic longitudinal products, especially sheet steel pile. Preferred Features: The length of the compensation interval (E1-E4) is 10-30 times the length of the cooling period (K1-K5). The coolant is water or water-containing emulsion. |
