PURPOSE: A simple input device and method are provided to perform an access to a specific URL or an execution of a specific application program, by producing a character representing a specific site or application program, to transmit an instruction code directly to a computer by embedding a serial ROM in a character and operating the character, or to perform an operation mapped with an instruction code by embedding a DIP(Dual In line Package) switch in a character and operating the character, where the serial ROM and the DIP switch stores specific instruction codes. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of a user connecting a character doll to one port of a hub(S410), a CPU determining if a switch is turned on for executing a specific operation of the character doll(S420), in a case that the switch is turned on, the CPU reading the instruction codes, stored at a serial ROM, one by one bit(S430), the CPU processing the read bits, producing instructions appropriate for each connection component, such as an SIO(Serial Input Output) module, a USB(Universal Serial Bus) driver, a PIO(Parallel Input Output), an RF(Radio Frequency) transmission module or a bluetooth transmission module, and transmitting instructions to a corresponding port or module(S440), and a computer receiving the instructions via the connection component and executing a corresponding operation, for example executing a web browser and accessing a search site, or executing a word processor.
