PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent character display tube capable of making multi-color displaying without involving a drop of the grade originating from dislocation of phosphor pieces from one another or causing an increase in the man-hours. SOLUTION: On the whole surface approximately of one anode 54 having a rectangular shape viewed on the plan, a phosphor layer A having the same shape and a size some smaller than it is attached fast, and to the surface thereof a plurality of phosphor layers B in circular shape with the installing position fixed is attached fast ion such a way as covering part of the phosphor layer A. The light emission wavelength of the phosphor layer A located under and the light emission wavelength of the phosphor layer B located over have different values, lying in the visible ray range. Because two sorts of phosphor make light emission simultaneously, the color received by the observer's eyes actually will be an intermediate color consisting of a mixture thereof.
