PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color density correcting method which can reduce the difference in quality between an image on a film screen and a video signal, can display an image of such natural color as not to cause color supersaturation even in a dark scene, and can reproduce an image close to a screen image in a movie theater. SOLUTION: When the brightness signal level of a video signal is not higher than a fixed level, the color signal level is reduced to correct the color density of a dark part. It is desirable that an adjustment start brightness input level be set to 50% or less, and a color signal final output gain be set to -3 dB or more.
