PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform stable operation and reliable video recording processing of a synchronization signal input unit in video camera apparatus, etc., irrespective of the kinds of input video signals. SOLUTION: Video signal inputted from an record/external synchronization input type 11 are inputted via a switch 15 to a reference signal generator 16 for generating a reference signal. A synchronization signal separator 12 separates synchronization signals, from the video signals inputted from the input terminal 11. A synchronization signal standard checker 13 for checking in the synchronizing signals conform with signal standards and controls the switch 15. If video signals which not meet the signal standards are inputted from the input terminal 11, the switch 15 is automatically turned off, to prevent the reference signal generator 16 from malfunctioning, thus stabilizing the circuit. Video signals inputted from the input terminal 11 are inputted to a video signal recording processor 17, to process the video recording, whether or not they conform to the standards.
