PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate disk access while avoiding defects. SOLUTION: A head is made to perform seeking up to a target address where data are to be written, the data are written only on normal block parts, referring to a slip processing table, and the address of the next block is read. When the address of a block where the data are to be written coincides with a defective block address in the slip processing table, the head is made to pass through over the block as it is (slip processing) without performing head seek operation, and address reading and data writing are performed at a normal block part including a continuing guard area region. When writing is not successful even in a block that is not registered in the slip processing table, the address of the block is added to the slip processing table.
