The scavenging ports are in several inlet rows allocated to several feed flow planes. One port on the cylinder inner face side and the scavenging air supply are controlled by a reciprocal piston motion. Each feed flow plane (13,14) comprises at least one control member (27,28) regulating scavenging air flow to the inlet rows (11,12). The control members are governable in dependence on the engine operational point. Pref. the scavenging air ports (5,5') of the inlet rows have different inlet geometry, affecting exhaust gas retention in the cylinder (2). |
