PURPOSE: A brake shoe for a drum brake is provided to absorb vibration produced by frictional contact between a lining and a drum in operating a brake. CONSTITUTION: A brake shoe(10) comprises a circular lining-fitting plate(12) and a connecting plate(14). A brake lining(16) is adhered to the outer surface of the lining-fitting plate. An elastic material-covered layer(18) of a viscous composition is spread on the outer surface of the lining-fitting plate and the connecting plate except the outer surface of the lining-fitting plate to which the brake lining is adhered. In the viscous material, synthetic rubber, phenolic resins, and polyvinyl acetate as an adhesive are compounded. Thus, the elastic material-covered layer sharply reduces impact vibration transmitted through the lining in operating the brake shoe.
