PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a synthetic fiber, by which the use of a pressurized fluid, electric power, an oiling agent, and the like can be reduced to enable an energy-saved operation, and to provide a device therefor. SOLUTION: This method for producing the synthetic fiber, comprising cooling a yarn Y spun from a spinneret 4 with a cooling means 5, oiling the cooled yarn with an oiling means 7, interlacing the oiled yarn with an interlacing means 8, and then winding up the yarn on a package, is characterized by monitoring the traveling state and/or shape of the yarn Y with a detection means 11, cutting the yarn Y on the basis of an abnormal detection signal and reducing or stopping at least one of the cooling air of the cooling means 5, the oiling agent of the oiling means 7, and the pressurized fluid of the interlacing means 8.
