PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medium to be recorded by ink jet having high light resistance, high gloss, high ink absorbability and excellent white part light resistance and a method for manufacturing the same. SOLUTION: The medium to be recorded by ink jet comprises an undercoating layer containing a salt of an alkali earth metal an acrylic resin adhesive and provided on a support, and an ink acceptive layer coating liquid containing a vapor phase process silica and coating thereon. In this medium, the layer is pressure contacted with a heated mirror surface drum while the layer remains in a wet state and hence mirror-finished. The adhesive of the undercoating layer is an acrylic resin. The salt of the alkali earth metal is a carbonate of calcium of magnesium, its shape is preferably a sea urchin-like shape. A heat calendering treatment after undercoating is a preferable method for manufacturing since the white gloss of the medium is improved. |
