PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration suppressor for a steel sheet, which realizes an intended control effect on steel sheets with various sheet thickness, by electromagnets with comparatively small attractive force. SOLUTION: The vibration suppressor for the steel sheet comprises a pair of electromagnets which are arranged so as to face each other across the steel sheet sandwiching the sheet, and suppress vibration by attracting the above steel sheet with each magnetic force given on a direction crossing to the above steel sheet, and a pair of movement actuators for controlling a distance between the electromagnets, which are directly connected to the pair of the electromagnets respectively. The movement actuators of the electromagnets are characterized by controlling the distance between the pair of the electromagnets according to the sheet thickness of the steel sheet. The movement actuators of the electromagnets are further characterized by arranging a sensor for detecting the distance between the electromagnets and the above steel sheet, and a location signal generator for generating a location signal of the above electromagnets on a basis of the detected output of the sensor, on the each of the pair of the electromagnets, and by controlling the space between the pair of the electromagnets corresponding to the sheet thickness of the steel sheet so as to be a predetermined value, on a basis of the output of the location signal generator.
