PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing a silver halide emulsion having a small grain size, high sensitivity and high optical density. SOLUTION: In the method for preparing the silver halide emulsion, an aqueous solution of a water-soluble silver salt and an aqueous solution of a water-soluble halide are supplied from a supply port put in the sealed agitation vessel of a mixer, at least two moving blader not having a rotating shaft which pierces the wall of the agitation vessel are separately disposed at opposite positions in the agitation vessel to control the mixed and agitated state of the supplied aqueous solutions, fine silver halide grains formed after agitation are discharged from a discharge port put in the agitation vessel and a hexacyano-metallic complex of the formula [M(CN)6 ]<n-> (where M is Fe, Ru, Os, Co, Rh, Ir or Re and (n) is 3 or 4) is brought into contact with the grains.
