摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transition metal compound useful for preparation of a highly active catalyst for olefin polymerization, the highly active catalyst for the olefin polymerization and an efficient method for producing the olefin polymer. SOLUTION: This transition metal compound is represented by general formulas [I]: CpMYX<1> 2 , or [II]: (CpMYX<1> )2 X<2> (wherein, M is a group 4 transition metal atom; Cp is a group having a cyclopentadiene-type anionic skeleton; Y is a group bonded by aσ-bond to M through a group 15 or 16 atom; Cp and Y are bonded to each other directly or through a cross-linking group; X<1> is a sulfonyloxy group; and X<2> is a group 16 atom). The catalyst for the olefin polymerization is obtained by bringing (A) the transition metal compound into contact with (B) a specific aluminum compound and/or (C) a specified boron compound. The method for producing the olefin polymer uses the catalyst for the olefin polymerization.
