If a gear speed (n) and a measurement of foot pedal actuation (x) are both detected as being essentially equal to zero or less than a threshold value, then a warning is sent to the driver, alerting him or her of a misuse of the automatic clutch system. Independent claims are also included for (a) a second method where instead of monitoring gear speed, clutch slippage is monitored in case it exceeds a threshold value, (b) a third method where the gear speed is monitored for exceeding a threshold value, as opposed to monitoring it for falling below a threshold value, and (c) the apparatus for carrying out each of these methods. |
