PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controlling device for a game machine and a controlling method that backup time can be prolonged in the event of outage of the game machine. SOLUTION: A control board group consisting of a pattern display board 4, a sound control board 5 and a lamp control board 6, a main board 3 for controlling the control board group, and a power supply 1 separated from the main board 3 and the control board group and supplying a predetermined power to the main board 3 and the plurality of control boards are provided, and the control board group has a function that a power-saving mode is set by a control signal or that the power-saving mode is canceled by the control signal, and the main board 3 receives a signal to turn off the power supply from the power supply 1 and sends out a power-saving mode command to the control board group so as to reduce power consumption of a backup power supply at outage.
