<p>1,213,767. Shuttleless looms; weft inserters that beat-up. R. B. GOLOBART. 22 April, 1969 [25 April, 1968], No. 20547/69. Heading DIE. A weft inserter 1 has rollers 13, 14 which run on a stationary reed and a disc 10 which beats-up a previously laid weft 7. The weft 7 is guided through eyes 6, 5 in a cover 4 (Fig. 2) through an eye 40 in the inserter and through an eye 26 in a pivoted guide 24 which moves with a spring clamp 27. In use a previously laid weft 7 extends from the selvedge and through the inserter (Fig. 3, not shown) to the supply. As the inserter enters the shed a stop 41 pivots the guide 24 and clamp 27 to clamp the weft to the inserter and a cutter 44, 45 severs the previously laid weft. As the inserter passes into theshed it beats-up the previous weft and takes in the new weft. At the far side of the shed a member 50, on retraction of the inserter, clamps the new weft and pivots the guide 24 and clamp 27 so that the weft may pull through the inserter, as it retracts, to the Fig. 3 position.</p> |
