MICROORGANISM IMMOBILIZING CARRIER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microorganism immobilizing carrier having proper buoyancy in water such as wastewater and having both of excellent microorganims holding power and durability. SOLUTION: The microorganism immobilizing carrier is constituted by bonding a nonwoven fabric 2 made of a water absorbable resin to soft polyurethane foam 1. The water absorbable resin may be applied to, infiltrated into and bonded to at least a part of the entire surface of the polyurethane foam 1 or may be compounded with the polyurethane foam 1 at the time of production or the water absorbable resin is applied to, infiltrated into or bonded to at least a part of the entire surface of the polyurethane foam l compounded with the water absorbable resin. Microorganisms have wastewater cleaning action and the polyurethane foam 1 may have a tensile strength of 50-300 kPa.
