PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cold cathode discharge tube preventing its electrode from sparking with a metal placed near the discharge tube and a lighting system using this. SOLUTION: The cold cathode discharge tube, making a function of a second electrode operate longer than that of a first electrode and preventing spark by the first electrode on the high voltage side, by making measure, side thickness and base thickness of a cylindrical metal 10 which consists of the first electrode 5 fitted with the sealing metal 4 sealed at the end of a glass bulb by filling noble gas at predetermined pressure and by diffusing mercury larger than those of a cylindrical metal 13 which consists of a second electrode 6 fitted with a sealing metal 3 and by connecting a sealing metal 4 to the high voltage side of a power supply, and the lighting system in which spark by this cold cathode discharge tube doesn't occur, are provided in the invention. |
