Tribological solid additives for oils, greases and/or alkaline soaps, comprise at least 50% of hydrated calcium phosphite in the form of a white powder of mean particle size <= 100 microns , preferably 20 microns . Independent claims are also included for; (1) The lubricating compositions containing the additive(s); and (2) Use of the above lubricating compositions.
