PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information recording medium having data configuration capable of contributing to enhancement of an alternating processing speed. SOLUTION: The information recording medium is provided with control areas (A1, A3) in which various kinds of control information are recorded and a data area (A2) in which user data is recorded, the data areas has a spare area (SA) to be an alternating destination of a defective area possible to exist in the data area and a defect management area(DMA) to store defect management information to indicate relation between the defect area and the spare area and the control areas have address areas(DMA address areas) to store address data to indicate a location of the defect management area.
