PURPOSE: A driving apparatus of a plasma display panel is provided to reduce a switching loss of a switch and fabricate a low-priced sustain discharge circuit by forming an XY drive part for unifying an X drive part and a Y drive part. CONSTITUTION: A control portion(2) generates drive control signals(SCA,SCY,SCX) according to a video signal from the outside. An address drive portion(3) generates a display data signal by processing an address signal(SCA) of the drive control signals(SCA,SCY,SCX) from the control portion(2) and applies the display data signal to address electrode lines(AR1,AG1,...,AGm,ABm). A scan drive portion(6) outputs a driving signal in only an address period. A Y-common drive portion outputs the driving signal in only a display discharge period. The scan drive portion(6) forms wall charges to discharge cells selected according to the address signal(SCA) by scanning Y electrode lines(Y1 to Yn), sequentially according to the Y drive control signal(SCY). An XY drive portion(7) applies a voltage of AC pulse between the Y electrode lines(Y1 to Yn) and X electrode lines(X1 to Xn) by the Y drive control signal(SCY) and the X drive control signal(SCX). |
