PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibrator for vibration wave driving device which aims to shorten the axial length and to enhance the power. SOLUTION: In the vibrator, a piezoelectric device 3 is installed between the first elastic body 1 and the second elastic body 2, and a traveling wave is excited by applying a drive signal to the piezoelectric device 3. By installing a flange like elastic body 5 between the first elastic body 1 and the piezoelectric device 3 and applying the drive signal to the piezoelectric device 3, the first traveling wave is excited on the friction driving surface of a flange like elastic body 5 by bending vibration in parallel or approximately parallel to the surface including the vibrator axis and in addition the second traveling wave is excited on the friction driving surface by outside bending vibration of the flange like elastic body. |
