PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer, a printing method and a recording medium which facilitate designating images to be printed. SOLUTION: First electronic data is generated for printing an index image to a paper on the basis of image data of a first data acquisition section 7 and a second data acquisition section 8. Second electronic data is generated for printing to a plurality of papers, an information means for relating each index image when the index image is to be printed to the papers. A printer 2 and a transfer 1 are controlled on the basis of the first and the second electronic data. Even when there are the plurality of papers with the index image printed and even if the plurality of papers having the present index image printed mix with papers having a previous index image printed, the papers with the present index image printed and the papers with the previous index image printed can be distinguished easily from each other. Designating the image to be printed is facilitated and the image can be printed easily.
