PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the change in the performance of a screen device during its operation. SOLUTION: This screen device 20 having a cylindrical screen cylinder 9 and a plurality of vanes 10a rotated along the inner circumferential side of the screen 9 and used for screening a paper-making raw material A into an accept B and a reject C is composed by placing a paper-making raw material entrance 2 in the lower portion of the screen device 20, placing an accept exit 4 and a reject exit 3 in the upper portion of the screen device 20, and comprising a raw material entrance chamber 5 adjacent to the paper-making raw material entrance 2, a reject chamber 7 adjacent to the reject exit 3, a screen entrance chamber 6 adjacent to the entrance side face 9a of the screen cylinder, and an accept chamber 8a adjacent to the exit side face 9b of the screen cylinder and communicating with the accept exit 4, wherein the cross section of the accept chamber 8a is smallest on the side of the raw material entrance chamber 5 and is gradually enlarged toward the side of the accept exit 4.
