GROUND IMPROVEMENT METHOD SUPPOSING LIQUEFACTION RESULTING FROM EARTHQUAKE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ground improvement method supposing liquefaction resulting from an earthquake. SOLUTION: The volume of settlement of the earth's surface after the liquefaction is estimated from an initial void ratio of the ground, and when the estimated volume of settlement is in excess of the allowable volume of settlement, the ground is compacted so as to become a void ration corresponding to the allowable volume of settlement by a compaction method. Such a fact that there is a relation shown in the fig. 1 between the initial void ratio of the ground and a bulk strain (a compressive strain) of the ground caused by liquefaction can be utilized.
