The marking assembly for applying an identification symbol on wood, and especially on tree trunks, has a plate marking body (9). It carries at least one mounting (11,12) for the marking unit (10) at the wood material. The marking body has a transponder (14) for a wireless link to a data store. The data stored in memory can be scanned without a physical view and count of the marked trees. The transponder has a transceiver antenna (18) for high frequency electromagnetic waves, and an electronic chip (19) data store. The marking unit is of a plastics material which dissolves when the wood is processed to give paper pulp. The transponder is powered by the electromagnetic waves. |
