PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further improve thermal resistance and to stabilize quality by surely imparting high thermal resistance. SOLUTION: After supporting a catalytic metal on a porous carrier, the specific surface area of the porous carrier is reduced at a reduction rate of 30 to 70% by subjecting the carrier to heat treatment under a non-oxidizing atmosphere. By the heat treatment providing a reduction ratio of the specific surface area within this range, the degree of shrinkage of the pores in the carrier become the optimum range and the supported catalytic metal is tightly surrounded by the carrier. Accordingly, the movement of the supported catalytic metal is inhibited and sintering of the catalytic metal at a high temperature is suppressed. |
