Fault recognition method for a sequence of signals from a digital signaler in which the sequence is fed to a logic circuit in which the signal sequence is tested to see if it fulfills a plausibility criterion. When the criterion is not fulfilled, the signal is classed as faulty. The invention also relates to a corresponding logic circuit in the form of an ASIC circuit with a field programmable gate array. By counting the number of errors that occur and determining if the number lies above a threshold a determination can be made as to whether an error is a single event or a recurring or long-term event.
