PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the machining time of sheet metal processing approximately equal to an actual machining time, taking into account the characteristics of a sheet metal processing machine using a hydraulically actuated ram. SOLUTION: A punching time is calculated by reading an actually measured value from a measured value table, using a sheet thickness as a key and by executing data processing in which a ram speed is taken into account. A die changing time is, on the basis of the actually measured value, calculated as follows: in the case of a regular die, when the die is exchanged with a striker unchanged, its exchanging time is added, and when the die is exchanged with a striker changed, its exchanging time and a turret turning time are added; and in the case of an auto-index die, when the die is exchanged with a striker unchanged and when the total time of its changing time, a C-axis turning time, and a point axis connecting time is larger than an axis travelling time, the difference between the total time and the travelling time is added, and when the die is exchanged with a striker changed and when the total time of its exchanging time, the turret turning time, the C-axis turning time, and the point axis connecting time is larger than the axis travelling time, the difference between the total time and the travelling time is added.
