PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wastewater treating method for efficiently treating wastewater containing organic and/or inorganic substances that can be oxidized. SOLUTION: This is a wastewater treating method which brings air-mixed wastewater into contact with a catalyst in the presence of oxygen at 370 deg.C or below under the pressure which keeps the liquid phase of the wastewater is kept. In this case, the air-mixed wastewater is controlled to flow downward in parallel current, and a linear velocity of liquid in the column of a reaction tube is controlled to be between 0.01 cm/s and 2 cm/s inclusive.
