1333968 Magnetic contact units INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORP 25 Nov 1971 [2 Dec 1970] 54786/71 Heading H1N A magnetic flux operated multiple contact unit including planar flux guides 2 and flat movable armature contacts 9 arranged in a sealed two-part shell 1, 8 of insulating material comprising a mixture of low melting point sintered glass frit with inert fillings, such as mica or stone powder, in which the guides 2 are tightly enclosed has a step 3 in its shell part 1 so dimensioned and positioned with respect to the armatures 9 and flux guides 2 so that it may define the operating airgaps. The armatures 9 are mounted on springs 10 spot-welded or riveted to a flux guide 2 and the spring ends 11 engage the step 3 to set the gaps between the contact armatures 9 and the other guides 2. The armature may be polarized or remanent and a change-over contact arrangement as in Fig. 8 may have a polarizing permanent magnet 15 and a mounting member 16 which does not bias the armature. The sealing may be effected by the use of a fluorocarbon elastomer gasket 5 or by metal parts (Fig. 3, not shown) pressed in the edges of the shell parts and secured to each other by beading, flanging, cold welding or electric roller welding so that the contact parts are not heated during the sealing operation. |
